Transfer cPanel Account From Old Host To Our Server Using Backup Option

Transfer cPanel Account From Old Host To Our Server Using Backup Option.

Usually, our clients request us to migrate their cPanel accounts from the old host to us. As a first step, you will check whether the backup option is available in the old cPanel OR not.

If the Backup option is not available in cPanel then you will need to update the client to ask the old host for enabling backup option OR you can also update the client to ask the old host for providing a complete cPanel backup of his account.

If the Backup option is available in cPanel at the old host then we can generate a complete backup of the client’s account.

Whenever you try to create a complete cPanel backup then please check the disk space usage report in cPanel. As you know more is the size then it will take more time to generate the backup.

After checking the disk space usages, you will also need to check whether that client’s domain is resolving from the old host or not.

There are two ways to transfer old host cPanel account backup.

The first way is by whet command and for this old host domain must need to resolve from the old host.

The second way is by using FTP transfer, here we will not check from where the old host domain is working and we will transfer complete backup through FTP.

Let’s check both options.

1. Assume that the domain apsctech.biz is resolving from another host and we need to get a backup of its cPanel account on our tansy server.

1.1 As the first step, we will need to check the disk space usages for this account.

1.2 Since the disk space usage is low, we can create a backup of this account. If disk space usage of the old host account is more than 10GB then you can update the client to remove unnecessary contents from his account to reduce the disk space usage.
